Breast enlargement
Small breasts may be hereditary or the result of considerable weight loss. However, neither of these is a strong enough reason for women not to have the kind of breasts that they want.
The first breast enlargement surgeries were performed in 1962. Back then, the surgery may have had many drawbacks and unexpected consequences. Nowadays, however, breast enlargement surgery is considerably more reliable, its results are more durable and it is also relatively safe.
Is breast enlargement what I need?
- Yes, the proportions of my body are not correct and my breasts are not the same size.
- Yes, my breasts lost their elasticity after childbirth or weight loss has changed the size and shape of my breasts.
- Yes, I would like to have bigger breasts that I could be proud of.
If you have decided to have your breasts enlarged, please book a consultation with our specialist where we will discuss your expectations and how they can be met with surgery.
During the consultation, which lasts about an hour, the doctor will give you a detailed description of what happens before and after the surgery as well as the surgery itself. We will take the necessary tests, ask you about your health and habits, and answer all of your questions. It is important for us to know about your allergies, smoking and other health-related habits.
Choosing an implant of the right size and shape gives the most natural and permanent result. This is why we will try to help you find the breast implant that suits you the best so that your breasts will look as natural as possible after the surgery.
Breast enlargement surgery
Breast enlargement takes about one hour and it is always performed under general anaesthesia. Depending on the technique used to insert the implant, there will be a 4 to 6 cm cosmetic stitch on the body. Your chest will be wrapped in supporting bandages after the insertion of implants. The bandages will be removed the day after the surgery. The wounds will then be dressed in bandages.
You will come to after the surgery in a couple of hours and spend the night in our clinic. Some pain in the breasts is normal, as you’ve just had surgery. You will be given painkillers if necessary. Although people have a different tolerance for pain, our patients usually don’t need painkillers for more than two days.
The surgeon will examine you the next day and give you a personal aftercare programme before discharging you from the clinic.
Wound care
Your breasts will be tender and sensitive to pressure after the surgery, but the swelling and sensitivity should decrease after the surgery. The wounds should be kept as dry as possible and covered with sterile bandages for a week after the surgery. We definitely advise you to wear a special well-fitting bra that is not underwired for 3 to 6 weeks after the surgery.
We don’t advise you to stretch the scars, lift heavy items, exercise vigorously or go to the sauna for a couple of months after the surgery. You should also abstain from sexual activity in the first weeks. Although vigorous exercise is not advisable, moderate physical exercise helps improve circulation and speed up recovery.
You can return to your usual rhythm of life about a week or two after the surgery.
Smoking causes wounds to heal considerably slower, which is why we advise you to quit smoking for at least a month before and after the surgery.
Scars
Unfortunately, it is impossible to make incisions without leaving scars, but the scars that look dark at first will fade and become less noticeable in time. We advise using the wound gels available in pharmacies to accelerate healing. Use silicone bandages, which are also sold in pharmacies, to avoid keloid.
We advise you to protect your upper body from direct sunlight for a couple of months after the surgery, because the influence of sun radiation on the skin pigment may turn the scar darker and more noticeable.
Final result
The scars will have healed about two or three months after the surgery and the beautiful result of the surgery will be visible. Full recovery will take 6 to 12 months.
No matter how natural your breast implants look, you must keep in mind that they are foreign bodies in your breasts. This is why we advise you to have your breasts checked every couple of years to make sure there is no threat to your health.
We would like to remind you that the history of breast implants confirms that women with implants can breastfeed and they are no threat to planned pregnancies.
